In ShipIntel, you can activate notifications for different types of vessel and port events.
The ShipIntel notifications allow you to stay updated with your team's activities as well as activities of vessels and ports that you follow.

Different types of Notifications in ShipIntel
ShipIntel let's you activate notifications on vessels and ports.
Notifications on Vessels
Notifications on Vessels notifies you of vessel specific events. The vessel notifications include:
Notifications based on Area Activity, notifying you or your team when selected vessels enter or exit selected areas.
Notifications based on Crossing Lines, notifying you or your team when selected vessels have crossed a selected lines.
Notifications based on Port Activity, notifying you or your team when selected vessels change destination, or has arrivals or departures in selected ports.
Notifications on Ports
Notifications on Ports notifies you of port specific events. The port notifications include:
Notifications on Arrivals, notifying you or your team of vessels arriving at the selected ports.
Notifications on Departures, notifying you or your team when vessels are departing selected ports.
Notifications on vessels setting destination to the selected port.
How to turn on Notifications - General
This is how to activate notifications in ShipIntel:
Open the vessel card or a port card for the one (vessel or port) you want to receive notifications on.
Click on the bell icon at the top of the information card. This opens up the notification options.
Select by ticking off the event-specific notifications you want from the list.

How to turn on Vessel Notifications
Notification for vessels can be activated either from the vessel card in map view or from the vessel details view.
Setting Notifications from the vessel details window:
1) In the vessel details window, you can activate notifications by clicking on the bell icon in the top-right.
2) Once you have clicked on the bell, a window with the different notification categories will pop up
3) Click on one of the categories to activate notifications.
4) As events occur notifications will appear under Notifications in the main menu, as seen in the picture below.
Setting Notifications from the vessel map view:
1) When viewing a vessel card in map view, you can activate vessel notifications by clicking on the bell icon located at the top right hand side of the vessel card to the left of the map.
2) Once you have clicked on the bell, a window with the different notification categories will pop up.
3) Click on one of the categories to activate notifications.
How to turn on Vessel Notifications for Port Events, Area Events & Crossing Lines
Below is a step-by-step guide on how to turn on the specific vessel events for Ports Areas & Crossing Lines.
How to turn on Port Event Notifications for Vessels in ShipIntel
Adding port events to a vessel keeps you and your team notified for arrivals, departures and destination changes for the selected vessel.
1) Following the steps above, after clicking on Port Events, and select the type of event you want by ticking of from the menu.
2) To set the port you want the notifications to apply to, press "Add" to search for a port, or press the three dots to select a port from one of your port lists, as shown in the picture below.
3) Tick of whether or not you want the notification to only be sent to you or if you want the whole team to be notified.
How to turn on Area Event notifications for Vessels in ShipIntel
When activating area event notification for vessels, you and your team will get notified when vessels you follow enter and exit the defined maritime areas around the world.
1) Following the steps above, click on Area Events, and select the type of event you want to get notifications on by ticking of from the menu.
2) Click on "Select areas" to specify the area or areas you want to receive notifications for. This will open the Area Selection window.
3) Choose the type of area.
From the drop-down menu to the left of the map, choose the type of maritime area.
Scroll down the list or type in the specific area you want to select.
You can choose to set vessel specific notification for the following types of areas:
Canals and waterways
Emission Control Areas (ECA)
Exclusive Economic Zones (EEZ)
Polar codes
Shipping areas
War zones
4) Tick of the specific area, and click on select (The select button will turn blue and become clickable once you have selected your area)
5) Once you have selected the area, click on "Follow" to start receiving notifications.
Note: For the notifications to be sent to the whole team, tick of the toggle button at the bottom of the Area Event menu. If the toggle button is not ticked, the notifications will only be sent to you.
How to turn on Crossing Lines Notifications for Vessels in ShipIntel
Activating crossing lines notifications for vessels, you and your team will get notified when vessels you follow cross selected international shipping lanes and lines.
1) Following the steps above, click on Crossing Lines.
2) From the list below the map, click to select the lines.
In the map, all the shipping lines are marked in blue. The ones you select will turn red.
You can select the following lines.
3) Click on "Follow" to activate the notifications, after selecting the line(s).
Note: If the toggle button is not ticked, the notifications will only be sent to you. For the notifications to be sent to the whole team, tick of the toggle button at the bottom of the window before clicking "Follow".
How to turn on Notifications for Ports
You can activate Port Notifications from the map view of the selected port, or from the port's port details card.
Activating Notifications for Ports from Port Details Card
1) In the Port details window, you can activate notifications by clicking on the bell icon in the top-right. This will open up the window with the event specific notifications for your selected port.
2) Select the types of port notifications you want by ticking of from the menu.
3) Once you have selected the notifications, click on "Follow" to activate them.
Note: If the toggle button is not ticked, the notifications will only be sent to you. For the notifications to be sent to the whole team, tick of the toggle button at the bottom of the window before clicking "Follow".
As events occur notifications will appear under Notifications in the main menu.
You will also receive notifications on your mobile phone while logged into the ShipIntel mobile app.
Activating Notifications for Ports from Port map view
1) When selecting a Port in map view, you can activate Port Notifications by clicking on the bell icon at the top of the port card to the left of the map in the top-right. This will open up the window with the event specific notifications for your selected port.
2) Select the types of port notifications you want by ticking of from the menu.
3) Once you have selected the notifications, click on "Follow" to activate them.
Note: If the toggle button is not ticked, the notifications will only be sent to you. For the notifications to be sent to the whole team, tick of the toggle button at the bottom of the window before clicking "Follow".
As events occur notifications will appear under Notifications in the main menu.
You will also receive notifications on your mobile phone while logged into the ShipIntel mobile app.
How to Manage, Edit & Update your ShipIntel Notifications
Managing, editing and updating your Notifications can be done from the Notifications center.
1) To access the Notification centre, click on Notifications in the side menu to the left.
2) Once in the Notification center:
To the left - you will see a list of all notifications for events of the vessels and ports you have active notification triggers for. Events are collected from the time you created the notification rule.
To the right you will see a table with the various vessels and ports for which you have set notifications. The table on the right shows all "targets". Click on the various tabs to see notifications you have set on specific Vessels, Ports, Areas and Crossing lines.
3) To edit, update or delete Notifications, click on the "Manage" button in the top-right corner of the screen.
4) In the Manage screen, click on the pencil icon or the trash can to modify/update the notification or delete it, respectively.
