How to Change the Colors of Your Vessel Segments in ShipIntel

This ShipIntel user guide will teach you how to change the color of your vessel segments.

ShipIntel allows you to change the color of vessel segments and sub-segments to help you organize and differentiate them easily. To be able to easily distinguish between different segments and sub-segments, you can change the color as you see fit.

Follow the steps below to customize your map view.

Changing the Color for the Whole Vessel Segment

1. Open the map

Open the ShipIntel map from the menu bar to the left of the screen.

2. Access the vessel segments

  • Click on the button with the "Vessel" icon in the upper-right corner of the map in ShipIntel.

  • A list of the different vessel segments will appear and you can see what segments are showing on your map. In our example, the "Dry bulk" section is showing.

3. Selecting the segment

Click on the vessel segment you want to change the color for. In this example, we will click on "Dry Bulk".

4. Change to Color

  • Hover over the "All sub-segments" button.

  • A pop-up with the name of your chosen segment and a color palette icon will appear.

  • Click on the color palette icon to open the color options.

  • Select one of the color options by clicking on it.

5. Confirm Changes

Once you are happy with the changes, close the vessel segment overview by clicking on the map behind it, the arrow to the top-left of the segment name or the X on the top of the segment list.

Changing the Color for a Vessel Sub-Segment

Sometimes, you may want to separate sub-segments from each other for better organization. This can be easily done in ShipIntel with setting a color for each desired sub-segment.

1. Open Your Map

Click the "Map" feature on the left-hand side of the screen.

2. Access the Vessel Segments

  • Click on the "Vessel" icon in the upper-right corner of your map.

  • A list of different vessel segments will appear on the right side of your screen.

3. Select the Segment

Click on the vessel segment you want to manage. For this example, we will continue with "Dry Bulk".

4. Change the Sub-Segment Color

  • Hover over the sub-segment you want to change.

  • A pop-up with the name of your chosen segment and a color palette icon will appear.

  • Click on the color palette icon to open the color options.

  • Select one of the color options by clicking on it.

5. Confirm Changes

Once you are happy with the changes, close the vessel segment overview by clicking on the map behind it, the arrow to the top-left of the segment name or the X on the top of the segment list.

Visual Distinction: Use different colors to make specific segments and sub-segments easily identifiable.

Consistency: Maintain a consistent color scheme for similar types of segments to avoid confusion.

Customization: Feel free to experiment with different colors to find the combination that works best for your needs.
