How to Use the ShipIntel Search Bar to to Search for Vessels and Ports

The search bar feature in ShipIntel is designed to help you easily locate vessels and ports worldwide. By leveraging intuitive filters and the live map view, you can quickly find the specific vessel or port you are looking for.

Searching for Vessels or Ports

1) Accessing the Search Bar:

In the sidebar menu to the left of the map, find the search bar at the top.

When clicking on the search feature, a pop-up will appear where you can do your search.

2) Choosing What to Search:

Select whether you want to search for a vessel, port, vessel list, or port list.

The default search view, when opening the search feature, is the Vessels-tab in list view. Toggle between the different tabs to choose either Vessels, Ports, Vessel lists or Port lists. Here, you will also see your recent searches and last viewed vessels, ports, etc.

3) Entering Search Criteria:

  • Start typing the name of the vessel or port.

  • As you type, a list of matching vessels or ports will appear.

  • Refine your search further by adding more characters or searching by specific identifiers like IMO or MMSI numbers for vessels, or UN/LOCODE for ports.

Toggle between the different tabs or simply start typing the name of the vessel or port.

4) Viewing Search Results in List or Map View:

The default search results are displayed in List View, but you can switch to Map View to see their live AIS position. In Map View, vessels will appear based on your search criteria or filters, providing a geographical representation of your results.

Switching to Map view is done by clicking on map to the far right corner in the search pop up.

Note: Search results in Map view is only available for vessels.

5) Selecting a Vessel or Port:

Click on your desired vessel or port from the results to open an information card, where you can explore detailed data, see their position directly on the map and dive into the maritime intelligence provided.

Note: The Port of Rotterdam consists of several individual ports gathered in a small, concentrated area. Rotterdam - and several other ports - are therefore grouped together and defined as a region.

If you want information about a specific port in Rotterdam's port area, you can hover your mouse over "Rotterdam (22 ports)" to select the specific port from the drop-down menu, or select the port by pressing "View in map", to see the specific port on the map and selecting it.
