We aim to make ShipIntel super user-friendly. Therefore, you can easily navigate in ShipIntel by using the Side Menu on the left-hand side.

The Sidebar Menu for ShipIntel on web

The sidebar menu is on the left side of your ShipIntel map. This menu is important if you want to navigate inside ShipIntel. The sidebar menu:

How to use each feature in the ShipIntel sidebar menu

Each of the sidebar functions represents different features in ShipIntel, so let's learn more about them!


Search

The search feature is found at the top of the sidebar menu. When clicking on the search feature, a pop-up will appear where you can do a search.

Type in your search in the search field and search for vessels by name, MMSI, IMA, and ports by LOCODE or name in the search field at the top. The results will appear as you type. Choose between Vessel, Ports, Vessel lists or Port lists.

In the search pop-up, you will also see your recent searches.

Search for vessels using filters

You can also search for vessels by using the filters to the right in the search field.

Search and find vessels by filtering on Vessel segment, Sub segment, Technical details, Last departure (last port/area, laden/ballast condition and departure time) Current operation, Reported destination, or by selecting Other filters, such as current speed, current draft, current port ATA and more.

Search using List view and Map view

The default search view, when opening the search feature, is the list view. In ShipIntel, you can also search for vessel and ports in Map view.

Search for vessels by using the filters to the right in the search field at the top and see their live AIS position in the map, or search for vessels or ports by typing in in the search field.


Map

By clicking on "Map" in the side menu, you can monitor selected vessels, their subsegments, and ports on the ShipIntel map.

Hover over the port and vessel icons to see some details, or click on the icons to see more details. hover or port icons to see some details.

Map resources and layers

When viewing your ShipIntel map, you can choose to customize you map view and what you want your map to show and how your map should look. The map can be tailored by clicking on the icons in the top right corner.

Vessels and ports

Click on the 'Vessels' and 'Ports' icons in the top right corner to select the type and size of vessels you want to see on your map.

Map layers

Click on the 'Styles and layers' icon to toggle on and off map layers such as:

  • ECA/SECA zones

  • War zones

  • Judicial maritime zones

  • Sea ice (updated every 24 hours)

  • Piracy and anti-shipping activity

  • and more

Switch between satellite map, dark map or light map, and between standard mercator projection or 3D globe view.

Weather layers

Weather and 14-day weather forecast. Click on the 'Weather' icon to toggle on and off marine weather layers for your map.


Notifications

By clicking on "Notifications" in the sidebar, you will be able to access a list of vessels and ports that you have set the notifications. Receive notifications about vessels and ports that trigger push notification events sat by you.


Essentials

Sea Route Calculator

By clicking the "Sea Route Calculator" icon in the sidebar you will see information regarding the feature.

Create sea routes from the vessels' LIVE AIS position or find distances from port to port. Find the carbon emission, and calculate ETA from ETD. Get optional routes, route several vessels to the same port, or route one vessel to several ports.


Vessel Lists

By clicking the "Vessel Lists" icon in the sidebar you will see information regarding the feature.

You can create unlimited vessels lists based on what you need. Create lists by searching for name or filters, or by bulk uploading IMO numbers.

View vessels in your vessel lists on your map, get technical vessel details for each vessel, notifications for lists, view the live AIS for each vessel and their historical AIS data.


Port Lists

By clicking the "Port Lists" icon in the sidebar, you will see information regarding the feature.

Create an unlimited amount of port list. By clicking onto the different ports, you can see port activity, weather, bunker prices etc.


Port & Area Monitoring

By clicking the "Port & Area Monitoring" icon in the sidebar, you will see information regarding the feature.

Monitor and analyse vessels' activities in ports, areas and when crossing lines. Customize the notifications you want, and get alerts when vessels set a destination, when they arrive or depart ports or when passing lines. Analyse vessel congestion in ports, see historic port statistic and more.


Pre-fix


Fleet

By clicking the "Fleet" icon in the sidebar, you will get access to the fleet feature.

You can assign fleet vessels to team members and leverage them for voyage calculations and planning.


Voyage Calculations

By clicking the "Voyage Calculations" icon in the sidebar, you will see information regarding the module.

Create voyage calculations and add several vessels and cargoes to quickly compare their TCE and days. Add as many cargoes as you want - manually or with assistance from ChatGPT. Paste an email quote to auto-populate cargo details.


Cargo List

By clicking the "Voyage Calculations" icon in the sidebar, you will see information regarding the module.

For dry cargo, tankers, chemicals, LPG and LNG. Save hours with AI assistance. Quickly calculate with vessels to compare TCEs. Add as many cargoes as you want - manually or with assistance from AI. Paste an email quote to auto-populate cargo details.


Maritime Email AI

Maritime Email AI icon in the sidebar, you will see information regarding the feature.

Configure ShipIntel's Maritime AI as your private email parser, parsing cargoes directly into your private cargo lists and structured cargo templates.

Engagements

By clicking the "Engagements" icon in the sidebar, you will see information regarding the feature.

Add and manage vessel fixtures and scheduled activities and future engagements for vessels.

Add activities like fixtures, ballast legs, and dry dock operations with locations and dates, add notes to engagements, compare historical AIS to your past engagements directly in each vessel's engagement timeline, and find the vessels with your private fixtures and activities listed under engagement in the menu.


Files and documentation


Technical Vessel Details

By clicking the "Technical Vessel Details" icon in the sidebar, you will see information regarding the feature.

Build a private vessel database with technical details for the vessels your team follows for free. Only your team will see the data you add to the vessels.

Get pre-populated templates, edit and add information, search in the vessels' technical details, and save time by having updated details available.


Team Notebook

By clicking the "Team Notebook" module in the sidebar, you will see information regarding the feature.

Add notes to vessels, ports, list of vessels or list of ports. Add the notes on the go from your mobile or laptop. Search by free search or using filters and sorting to find the notes you have added.

Your team can add an unlimited number of notes, accessible to all member, attach notes to all type of activities, and add notes to cargoes for team discussions.


Maritime Contact Book

By clicking the "Maritime Contact Book" icon in the sidebar, you will see information regarding the feature.

Import contacts from Outlook 365 and link your vessels to companies.

Connect vessels to companies, bulk upload from Outlook 365, attach Technical Vessel Details, view live and historical AIS data for vessels you add to companies, call your clients via FaceTime or WhatsApp, and build your Maritime Contact Book on the go.


Documents

By clicking the "Documents" icon in the sidebar, you will see information regarding the feature.

Upload and manage documents for vessels and ports, and make it easily available for the team members from your mobile and laptop devices.


Photos

Snap photos from your mobile. The photos will be attached to vessels and ports and shared immediately with your team colleagues


Account


Contact us

By clicking "Contact us" you will be able to chat with the Maritime Optima team and ask us any questions you may have.


My page

By clicking on the "My page" symbol in the sidebar you will see information regarding your profile. Here you can edit your account settings and access ShipIntel customer support. You will also find the End-User Agreement, subscription agreement, cookie policy, and privacy policy.
