ShipAtlas has sorted the vessels into different vessel segments and sub-segments. This way you can choose what kinds of vessels you want to view on your map.

How to Add Vessel Segments to Your Map

Step 1

Make sure your screen shows the map page in ShipAtlas.

Click on the button with a vessel icon in the upper right corner.

A list of different vessel segments will appear on the right side of your screen.

Step 2

Click on the vessel segment you want to view on your map.

In this example, we are going to click on "Dry Bulk".

To view every vessel in the "Dry Bulk" segment that appears on our map, we have to select all the sub-segments. But instead of clicking on every one of them, we can simply click on the "all sub-segments" button, on top of the list.

Note that when a sub-segment has been selected the button next to it will turn blue.

In most cases, you will also be able to see the sub-segments appear on the map behind the vessel segment menu.

Step 3

Return to the overview of the vessel segments by clicking on the arrow to the left.

You can now see a number on the right side of the "Dry Bulk" segment.

This number shows how many sub-segments you have chosen within the "Dry Bulk" segment.

If you want to add more vessel segments to your map, choose another one and repeat the previous steps.

If you are happy with your choices, close the overview by clicking on the "X" in the left corner of the vessel segment menu or by clicking on the map behind it.

How to Add Specific Sub-Segments to Your Map

Step 1

Open the vessel segment overview by clicking on the button with a vessel icon in the upper right corner.

Step 2

Every sub-segment belongs to a vessel segment. So for you to add your preferred sub-segment, you must click on the belonging vessel segment first.

In our example, we want to view the Aframax (LR 2) and Panamax (LR 1) tanker ships on our map. Therefore, we are first going to click on the "Tanker" segment.

Then, select the sub-segments of your choosing by clicking on them.

When you are happy with your choices return to the overview.

Note that when a sub-segment has been selected the button next to it will turn blue.

In most cases, you will also be able to see the sub-segments appear on the map behind the vessel segment menu.

Step 3

In our example, you can now see a number on the right side of the "Tanker" segment

This number shows how many sub-segments we have chosen within the "Tanker" segment.

Keep adding sub-segments to your map by repeating the previous steps.

You can add as many sub-segments as you want from as many vessel segments as you want. When you are happy with your choices, close the menu by clicking on the "X" in the left corner of the vessel segment menu or by clicking on the map behind it.

How to Remove the Vessel Segments and Sub-Segments from Your Map

If you want to remove some or all of the vessel segments you have chosen, just go back to the overview list of all the vessel segments and select the one you want to remove.

If you chose all the sub-segments within that vessel segment,

Click on the "All Sub-Segments" button once again.

You will see the blue buttons next to them turn grey.

If you only chose some specific sub-segments, you need only to click on the ones you chose. Once again, you will see buttons turn grey.
