How to View Ships Nearby You

Step 1:

In order to use the "Vessels Nearby Me" feature, ShipAtlas has to be able to locate your position. Therefore, make sure that you have enabled the access to your location through your mobile settings.

Step 2:

Click the location icon button on the left side, below the search bar, to view nearby ships on the map. Then, click on the ship figure you're interested in to access more details such as name, potential destination, flag under which the given ship sails and the ship type.

To view additional technical information about the ship, click the "See more" button at the top-right corner of the ship’s information card.

How to Manage the Map

  • To zoom in, place two fingers on the screen and spread them apart.

  • To zoom out, pinch your fingers together.

  • To rotate the map, place two fingers on the screen and twist them in the direction you want to see.

The compass icon button lets you automatically rotate the map as you turn your phone. Pressing it will align the map to face north.

The second button is labeled "Center on User." It turns green when the map is tracking your location and orientation. If you manually move the map or select a ship, the map will focus on the ship and stop following your position, causing the button to turn white. Pressing it again will resume tracking your location and orientation.
