🌎 ShipAtlas by Maritime Optima is a data and knowledge driven maritime software empowering you and your colleagues to work from anywhere.
To start using ShipAtlas, you will first need a user account. If you don’t have one already, you can sign up for free here: app.maritimeoptima.com
ShipAtlas can be your own maritime office. You can add photos and documents, notes and contact details both to ports and port lists. All the information you add to a port will only be available to you.
Adding pictures and drawings to the port
Choose the port. You can either search for it in the port center, or you can click at a port from your port list (or the map)
Click on "More details" button in the vessel sheet opened on your left side. Bow you will see the port page.
We have already talked about the port information and data in the Port Center article.
Click on the "Private information" tab. Here you will find information only accessible by you:
Photos and images
Now select "Photos and images" or "Contacts" - depending on what information you want to add.
You can upload as many photos/images or documents as you want, and store them separately or in albums.
Examples of photos and images may be photos of loading or discharging equipment or drawings of special constructions to be aware of. Or it might be the terminal look like and what will influence the port operations, loading or discharging operations.
Then just choose the image or document on your computer and drag it to the folder.
Have an overview of all files you have added in the Port Center /Uploaded files tab.
Adding Notes to the Port
Click on the "Notes" button in the upper right corner of a port page.
Write a note, click "Save" and you will see the note appear in the "Notes".
This maybe a comment about the port like: "If you want to bunker in this port, remember to use the agent XXX" or "Last time we bunkered a vessel in this port the bunker was contaminated" or "add 6 hours ++ for NOR time in this port".
Information you have added from your desktop will be handy available on your mobile (and visa versa).
You will see all added notes in the Notebook (left menu)
If you wish to add notes to a port list, follow the same order.
Click on "Notes" button. Start typing your comment and click "Save" to add it. You can remove or edit your note later.
Or open the Notebook from the menu on the left. Here you can filter notes by subject. You last note will be added to the top.
Select a note, and you will be taken to the place where the dialogue took place.
Adding contact details to the Port
Go to the port page, choose "Private Information" and click on the "Port contacts". Add the details here and save the information.
You can see that this information appeared in Contacts.
Now you have saved contacts for that port and can send emails to the TBN agency in Rotterdam or call them directly from this template.
Open the Port Center and search for a port by using the criteria you prefer. Or simply click at the port on the map.
Select "Photos and images" or "Documents and drawings" from the port menu and add/view files.
Note: you can also shoot photos directly in the application. All information is synced between your devices, so you will be able to find and view these files from your desktop Maritime Optima app.
Example: Invite your agent, or the port captain for a short period of time, and let them help you take photos to the ports. Then everyone on the office can quickly access the updated pictures.
In ShipAtlas you can add notes to almost "anything": a vessel, a port, a vessel list, a port list, a photo, an album or documents.
Instead of writing in your physical notebook, you can add a "digital note" from your mobile or the web and easily find your comments later.
The same with notes or port contacts. If you wish to add contact details to any port, go to a port's page and just add the contact details as shown on the screenshots. If you add contact details to a port from your laptop, you can access the details from your mobile phone.
Press the phone number or e-mail and you can call or send an e-mail directly from your phone.
