There are several ways to track vessels in ShipAtlas. In this article we will tell you about different ways to search for vessels.
Quick vessel search on the map
Add a segment layer to the map (you can also choose sub-segments like Tanker/Aframax) in the right menu. Then point at any vessel in the map and hover over the vessel icon, or click on it to get more information.
Then click on the vessel to see its route, last port of call and next destination, as long as a short vessel description.
You can also search for a vessel right in the map by its name. IMO or MMSI:
If you point at the vessel, you will see a box with a short information about this ship. You can also click on the vessel to see more technical details (it will appear on the left). Scroll down and click at "More details" to see the questionnaire.
Smart vessel search
In the left menu you will see ShipAtlas Vessel Center. Here you can search for any vessel (and we have 85.000 of them!) by name, IMO number or other searching criteria.
To find a vessel, just start typing the name of a vessel you need to track, or choose other criteria.
When you have found the vessel, click on it, and you will see Vessel technical questionnaire. Then click "View in map", and you will be taken to vessel real-live AIS position:
Before you go to the AIS position, you can go through vessel's technical description.
After you click on the blue button "View in the map", you will be taken back to the map:
When you are using ShipAtlas on your mobile phone, you can track any vessel in the Vessel Center as well, or just click on the vessel on the map.
To search for a vessel in the Vessel Center, open it in the menu, and then start typing the name of the vessel, its IMO or MMSI number.
If you need more filters, click on the green button "More". Here you can search for vessels by segments, beam, flag, name, LOA and other criteria.
When you have found the right vessel, just click on it to see vessel details.
Another way to get vessel data is to click on a vessel in the map, or search in the quick search field in the map. Then just click on a vessel card to see vessel information:
