Understanding a ship's current and past latitude and longitude coordinates is crucial for tracking its precise location and viewing its previous positions on a map. This information can give some of our users a clearer view of the ship’s current location, its travel history, and its future trajectory. This guide will explain how to access latitude and longitude coordinates for a given ship in the ShipAtlas web app.

View Ship's Current Lat & Long Coordinates

Step 1:

Search for the ship of your interest by using search bar. Once it appears in the search results, click on it. Once you click on the ship of your interest from the search results, you will be taken to the map. Together with the ship's Live AIS position on map and tracks, you will also be automatically shown ship's information card at the left part of the screen.

Step 2:

Now, zoom in on the map to get a closer view of the given ship's icon and its route line. Place your cursor at the end of the solid blue line to display the ship's latitude and longitude coordinates for its most recently received position.
