No one can know the current location of every ship in the world or remember all port locations. That's why we've created a search bar to help our users easily find the ships or ports they are most interested in.

How to Search for Vessels or Ports

When you are on the ShipAtlas map you will find the search function at top-left side of your screen.

Step 1 & 2:

Click on the search bar and select whether you want to search for a vessel or a port. Then, enter the name of the vessel or port.

Step 3:

As you begin typing, a list of ships or ports starting with the same letter will appear. If you don't see the ship or port you're searching for, continue typing more letters to refine your search.

Note: You can also search vessels by entering their IMO or MMSI number, whereas for ports UN/Locode can be also used. All you have to do is simply copy and paste the given number/code of the vessel or port into the serach bar field.

To explore more ports in a specific country, simply select the ports option and enter the country name.

Step 4:

When you have found the ship or port you were searching for, click on it, and the app will show the ship or port on your map with its information card.

You now know how to use the ShipAtlas search bar to search for ships and ports.
